On a roll...

Good news for X-Mas. This week, I received an acceptance to Santa Clara and the University of Miami. I am 4-4 thus far and I am pretty sure this is a sign that my application file/strategy was pretty good.

I will most likely withdrawal from these schools. They were mainly safety schools that I applied to because I received a waiver. I am almost certain I will not matriculate so I might as well give my spot to some other applicant.

Also, I was notified this week that I would receive a $12,000 scholarship from Pittsburgh. This would make the cost of attendance there very comparable to my in-state schools. This has made Pitt my top choice thus far. There are only a handfuls of schools I'd rather attend and even then, this scholarship may even pull me to Pitt.

Good luck to everyone else waiting to hear from schools. Enjoy your holiday.

I'm 2 for 2

Catholic Law notified me today via email of my acceptance with financial info to follow later. Catholic seems to have a solid program and a solid rep. However, the cost of tuition and of living in DC is troublesome. Also, the pecking order of DC law schools seems to be Georgetown > George Washington > George Mason > American/Maryland > Catholic > Howard. Obviously, placement from Catholic needs to be a consideration and the fact that T20 grads from all over the country come to DC to get those BIGLAW jobs doesn't help much either.

If Catholic offers some financial help, I would seriously consider attending. I suppose thats how it is with most schools though...

Now that I'm starting to get acceptances, I'm worrying less about where I will get in and more about how/if I can afford to go there. : /

FIRST ACCEPTANCE!!!!!

I just received my first acceptance from...drum roll........

Needless to say, I am very excited!!!

I had yet to receive a "complete" notice from Pitt, so when I received a small business size envelope, I expected that it was just a notice. Yet, when I picked it up, I noticed that it was a bit thicker than usual.

Could it be?.....

I opened the envelope and unfolded the letter and experienced a moment of sheer bliss as I basked in that glorious five syllable word.

Congratulations.

The years of hard work, unpaid internships, extracurricular activities, staying in to study, all the hoops I had to jump through - finally paid off.

Hopefully the news will continue to be good. Pitt is a target school that I would have NO problem attending (despite being home to the Squeelers). Pitt is deff up there in the running, and their financial package that should come in a few weeks is sure to be very attractive. There are a hand full of schools I'd rather go to, but I don't expect to hear from them until well after the new year. Also, I would almost certainly have to trade some scholarship money for rankings.

I know everyone is hurting right now for decisions but hang in there. I know it sucks, but in the end, it will all be worth it.

Good luck to everyone waiting - Wish you all the best.
